GAIL PETTIS

Clif & Nelda are honored to feature two-time winner of Earshot Jazz Golden Ear Award “Northwest Vocalist of the Year,” Gail Pettis.  Gail was born in Kentucky and raised in Gary, Indiana. Pettis, played French horn in high school, and began nurturing a new passion for jazz vocals in her early forties. In 2006, Pettis began making music full-time. With two records to her name, Pettis won the Seattle-Kobe Female Jazz Vocalist Competition in 2006, served as an artist-in-residence at Amherst Jazz Festival the same year, and has performed with Gene Harris, New Manhattan Big Band, and Eddie Conard.

Jeff’s passion for music rooted in world traditions has led him to perform jazz, blues, gospel, samba, calypso, and Cuban jazz across a wide range of ensembles. He has recorded with Grammy-winning vocalist Carlos Cascante and Latin Grammy nominee Jovino Santos Neto, and has studied with master percussionists from Senegal, Venezuela, and Brazil. It was a dynamic night of global rhythm and jazz energy in an intimate tasting room setting in the heart of Pike Place Market.

JFEBRUARY 27tH WITH RICH COLE

On February 27th, Clif & Nelda, in partnership with the Wines of Washington Tasting Room, are thrilled to feature stellar saxophonist Rich Cole. A nationally acclaimed talent, Rich has worked with such jazz greats as Randy Brecker, Dave Holland, Adam Nussbaum, Julian Priester and John Fedchock, and has toured and performed with New Orleans icon Dr. John, fusion star Dan Siegel, and R&B legends Gladys Knight, The Temptations, The Spinners and The Four Tops. His own original music follows forward from the intense traditions of jazz masters such as John Coltrane and Joe Henderson.

January 30th WITH MICHAEL GLYNN

Michael brought to the Tasting Room an evening of expressive, straight-ahead jazz, blending classic standards with modern interpretations in an intimate setting at Pike Place Market. Michael began performing professionally at the age of 16.  While living in the Pacific Northwest, New Mexico, and the Bay Area he has performed with such jazz luminaries as Eric Alexander, Peter Bernstein, Seamus Blake, Conte Candoli, Eddie Daniels, Dave Grusin, Louis Hayes, Geoffrey Keezer, Don Lanphere, Mark Levine, Harold Mabern, Lewis Nash, William Parke and Bud Shank, among other notables.
