Apex Cellars - Winemaker Bio
Brian Cater has been recognized as one of the top winemakers in Washington State for more than two decades. Brian started making wine at 14, harvesting grapes and other fruits and fermenting them into wine. He received a degree in microbiology at Oregon State University. He then moved to California to study
enology at the University of California at Davis. Brian honed his winemaking skills at Mount Eden Vineyard and Chateau Montelena, and then brought what he had learned to Washington State in 1980.

For his contributions to the development of Washington wineries, Brian was chosen as the 1996 recipient of the "Prestigious Alex Bayless Award".
